The portfolio, open. Each of the company’s 22" x 44" prints were folded to form the 22" x 22" French folded pages, and then guarded by hand to aid the turning of the pages and to strengthen the screw post binding. (Guarding is the adding of a strip of linen to the left edge of each print – this allows the pages to turn easily and to lay flat.) A sheet of vellum was placed at the front and back of the portfolio as well.
